Gino Pozzo is a multi-millionaire businessman and the executive chairman of Watford Football Club. He is the only son of Giampaolo Pozzo, who leads the family-owned Italian business Udinese Calcio, which he has been involved with since 1990.
In 1998, Gino became the managing director of Udinese Calcio. In 2009 he also took on responsibility for Watford as part of a plan to develop both clubs under the umbrella of The Hornets’ Group Limited (THGL).
Gino Pozzo is also the chairman of Watford’s parent company, Hornets’ Group Limited (THGL). The Hornets Group also comprises two other companies, Hornets Investment Limited and Hornets Leisure Limited.
Gino Pozzo is responsible for the strategic leadership of all the Group’s business units, including Watford Football Club and Udinese Calcio. He is involved in all football-related matters at the Club and oversees the Club’s coaching department and Watford FC Academy’s operation. He also supervises marketing activities and liaises directly with Watford fans via email or social media.
He is also involved in philanthropic activities and has been heavily fundraising for Watford FC’s official charity, Watford FC Community Sports & Education Trust (WFCSET), of which he is a trustee.
His charitable activities include projects with the Football Club, including the Pozzo family pledge’, launched by Gino Pozzo at the start of 2013. The pledge is designed to raise funds for the WFCSET and will run for five years. It involves Watford fans committing to donate £10 every time the team scores a goal from its half, which The Hornets’ Group Limited will match up to a maximum donation of £50,000 per season (2013/14).
He is also known for his love for the Hornets’ community and has devoted time to charitable events and, more recently, supported the Lionesses. He is a Watford Lodge, The Watford Fellowship, and Lions Clubs International member.
