Ross Levinsohn is a media and communications professional with a long history of success in the industry. He began his professional career at HBO, where he was the Director of Production and Marketing Enterprises, before moving on to CBS Sportsline as the Vice President of Programming. After that, he was the President of Fox Interactive Media and then Managing Director at Fuse Capital.
Ross was a leader in the tech industry, holding positions at Yahoo from 2010-2012 and The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) from 2016-2017. At Yahoo, he was Executive Vice President of the Americas, Interim CEO, and Head of Global Media, overseeing a $5 billion revenue and $20 billion market cap. At BCG, he served as Senior Advisor.
In 2014, he co-founded Whisper Advisors, a financial advice and growth strategy company. He was then appointed as CEO of Guggenheim Digital Media, a leading global media and entertainment company, where he was responsible for the company’s digital strategy. Levinsohn served on the Board of Directors of Tribune, a multi-media company, and the Board of Trustees of American University, a private research university in Washington, DC.
For the past few years, Levinsohn has served The Arena Group and Sports Illustrated CEO Media. He was appointed CEO of Sports Illustrated in 2019 before The Arena Group acquired Sports Illustrated publishing in 2020. As Sports Illustrated CEO, Levinsohn has been focused on implementing a new publishing strategy designed to increase revenue and reduce costs. This new strategy includes retooling existing technology, sunsetting some platforms, eliminating partner guarantees, and shifting to a vertical model for the organization’s media holdings.
Levinsohn’s strategy has seen a dramatic increase in audience growth, revenue, and margin expansion. He implemented a content paywall on Sports Illustrated, which has seen a 56% increase in print subscription revenue. He has also developed new revenue streams through licensing deals, esports, and gambling contracts.
