The article, by Entrepreneur.com’s own John Schramm, shares the story of Kfir Gavrieli and his rise to CEO of Tieks. The company started as an idea in college–Kfir went to school for architecture but found himself designing shoes instead. The company has now grown into a worldwide success with over 50 employees. Their products are now sold in over 100 countries. This company has had a lot of great initial publicity, mostly because Oprah is one of their investors. They have received some criticism for being too expensive, but this hasn’t stopped them from continuing their mission.

The shoes themselves look very comfortable–they’re made out of ballet flats, so naturally don’t provide support as regular sneakers do.Their website features an interview with Kfir Gavrieli himself. He discusses his story and what it’s been like growing up as an Israeli-born Jewish boy raised by parents who wanted him to be involved in politics or public service somehow. However, instead, he went into business at just 19 years old. Kfir Gavrieli shares some great advice in the interview. He says, “You have to be very clear about what your mission is and what you want to achieve. And then it’s all about execution.” This is something that many entrepreneurs struggle with–figuring out their goals and then putting in the hard work to make them happen. Kfir also talks about how he handles stress, which I think is admirable.

He doesn’t take things home with him and instead focuses on his family and friends outside of work. It’s important to have balance in life to stay productive during our working hours. Besides the great advice, it’s just really inspiring to read about someone who has followed their passion and achieved so much. Kfir is a prime example of what makes a hero.
