Launch House has announced the opening of its third fund, the House Capital Fund, which is its venture arm. The company has already raised a total of $370 million from investors, including companies like Airbnb and electric vehicle producer Tesla.
Launch House was founded in 2015 by CEO Jay Shah as an alternative to traditional consumer lending platforms like Lending Club and Lending Tree. Investors can put money into the firm’s house capital fund on the condition that it be used for home improvements for qualified homeowners who need to make repairs in order to keep a mortgage on their property or earn equity through rentals in certain markets with high rates of foreclosures.
Launch House has already made more than 80 investments, including a number of companies that are part of its cause-related investing arm. It has also moved into the early-stage venture capital business by focusing on sectors supporting local entrepreneurship.
